Turns out some people close to President Obama earn a grand total of zero dollars from taxpayers. I’m pretty sure there are provincial bureaucrats in Canada who make as much as his National Security Advisor.

White House senior adviser David Plouffe wants congressional Democrats to debate their Republican counterparts more on taxes. He actually has a point. So far the conversation has been less a debate than a do-not-do-so contest.

Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) refuses to implement Obamacare despite this week’s Supreme Court ruling. I don’t see you coming up with any better ideas, Bobby, aside from agreeing with whatever former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) says about this. You might want to get on that.

Speaking of which: Romney’s latest attack ad features a clip of none other than then-Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) attacking Obama’s health care proposals. I’m sure she couldn’t get away with this, but if anyone used my image in a campaign ad without my permission, I’d be on them faster than . . . Bobby Jindal on a better idea.

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) wins his primary challenge, but the vote count is already being questioned. See, kids, that’s what happens when you get into ethical trouble in public. Everything you do is suspect. Even winning elections.

Students of America, breathe easy: The interest rates on your loans will not double. I’d be happier about this if that low-rate extension came with an explanation, or an attempt to find an explanation, for this.

The same bill that included that extension also includes an extension of the federal flood insurance program. Why the hell don’t private insurers in America cover flood damage, anyway? Thank God my house has a sump pump.

Sheldon Adelson is donating $10 million to the Koch brothers’ super PAC. A super-donor donating to two other super-donors. I think Buddy Roemer just burst into flames.

Canada’s economic prospects look brighter thanks to higher oil output. I have to wonder how long we can last, being this dependent on our natural resources.

Meet Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, who was sworn into office yesterday. I’m not going to say anything about this for a year. I want to see how he handles Israel.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague is worried about how Russian and Chinese dissent will affect the possibility of brokering peace in Syria. Have you considered ignoring them? The rest of us have.
